Dear reader,
You probably didn’t grow up dreaming of building compliance technology — and neither did we. Our childhood aspirations included becoming a skateboarder, a mechanic, and a receptionist. But somewhere along the way, we traded those dreams for something just as interesting: building technology that solves real, complex problems.
We joined Duna with genuine excitement. From our first conversation with David and Duco, it was clear we found a career-defining opportunity with people who care deeply about doing things differently. The business identity space is messy. Big companies have thrown resources at it, yet still fall short of solving the core issues. The idea of spending every day building: that was the real draw for us. No busywork. No politics. Just good people who care for each other and want to solve hard problems together.
From day one, our product vision kept us focused. Since we started building the foundations for our reusable identity network, companies like Plaid and bol started to use our software every day. It gives a real thrill to see your work come to life so quickly. One particular aspect about our technology we enjoy is that it's all about trust. While that brings responsibility, it brings equal amounts of intellectual challenge. The stakes are high: our product is an integral part of our customers’ operations. We are ingrained with their revenue, regulatory, and operational functions. If we get it right, we help our customers grow faster, operate smarter, and stay compliant. If we get it wrong, the consequences are as real: that’s why every detail matters.
Next to our product vision, we continuously focus on building Duna's engineering culture. We want to invent and create together. We spend over 80% of our time every week focused on building: overhead or distraction along the way are not taken as a given. We put in the work to remove any obstacles so we can focus on what we really love doing.
At the end of the day, what we are building at Duna is not just about our product. It’s also about the team. We want Duna to be the place where our team members get to do their best work. Therefore, we’re building with high ownership, but never solo. Growth is a team sport for us: genius doesn’t matter if it stands alone.
At Duna, we are builders at heart.
