Dear future colleague, or other readers,
’Here’s your spin-up buddy,’ said Duco’s manager in early 2016. Into the door walked David, a quirky German who talked around 400 words per minute and had more energy than a class full of toddlers. It marked the start of our great friendship and, back in 2018 already, we decided to eventually build a company together.
We spent countless nights discussing how to build a company that brings out the best in people. Our friends and family often mockingly joked: ‘Shouldn’t this be the other way around? Build a product first and define your company culture later?’. We politely disagree – both are equally important to execute on a big vision.
Building a company as a product.
So here we are: thrilled to finally bring this vision into reality! We see the company as the second product we are building and are deeply motivated to make it our best. So how do we bring this to life at Duna?
People. We believe a business becomes the people it hires. Talent density is the core of our company product. To us, this is our #1 personal goal. That’s why we issued over eighteen percent to our initial equity pool – and are relentlessly looking for exceptional talent.
Culture. The best people can work anywhere, but there are few places where they can do their best work. We aspire to be that place for you. We believe in real ownership, radical trust, full transparency, and moving fast. Fewer layers, more clarity.
Ambition. Our ambitions are nothing short of grand. We believe in the magic of progress over perfection. Some parts shine, some still need polish – solving complex problems is a long-term exercise. We count on you to shape this jointly with us.
Ethical by design. We believe the best companies serve more than just shareholders. That’s why we allocated one third of our shares to the Duna Foundation: a non-profit is now one of our largest owners. We believe long-term success is built by optimising returns for all stakeholders. As our business grows, so should our positive impact on the planet and its people.
Final considerations.
If you've made it here you probably want to know what we're hiring for and if you should apply. That’s great! However, a few things to note.
First, we’re not your typical tech company. We’re a remote-first, fast-moving team that cares deeply about the details — whether it’s building complex technical infrastructure, designing beautiful user interfaces, or creating the perfect Slack emojis.
Second, you should read through this site in detail. You’ll find the fundamentals here: what we believe in, how we work, and why we’re building this company. If you're looking for just another job, this probably isn’t it. We're building a company that matters deeply to us, and are looking for people who bring this to life with us.
If you’re excited about ownership, high standards, and building fundamental infrastructure of the internet — then you’re in the right place.
